Notes for Lena Anderson
Lina Anderson (Grundman) was born on June 28, 1882, in Riga, Latvia. At the age of 17, she emigrated to the United States, traveling aboard the RMS Pavonia. She departed from Liverpool on July 25, 1899, and arrived in Boston on August 4, 1899. Her destination was the home of Fritz Lakewitz at 219 Cabot Street, Roxbury, Massachusetts.

Upon arrival, Lina worked as a house servant in the upscale neighborhood of Linden Park Street in Boston, the first planned housing development in the United States.

On February 12, 1903, at the age of 20, Lina married Rev. John Samuel Grundman, a 25-year-old from Jekabpils, Latvia. The wedding took place in Boston, officiated by Rev. A. C. Dixon. Rev. Grundman had met Lina while canvassing for parishioners for his new Latvian Baptist Church of Boston in Linden Park.

In 1905, Lina and her husband moved from Boston to a house on the corner of 24 Charles Street and Purvis Street in Watertown, Massachusetts. In 1912, they relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where Lina eventually became a U.S. citizen, receiving her citizenship papers in 1928 while living at 1825 East 87th Street, Cleveland.

Lina Anderson (Grundman) passed away on June 12, 1942, at the age of 59. She was buried on June 15, 1942, in White Haven Memorial Park, East Cleveland, alongside her husband, Rev. John Samuel Grundman, to whom she had been married for 37 years.
